Located in the north of the Isla Grande, this city became famous during the gold exploitation period. Nowadays, it is considered the economic capital of the island, as well as being a communication and supply center which involves the oil, cattle and wood industries. As regards the tourist industry, one of the main attractions is the fishing of trout and salmon, with fish that exceed 8 kilograms. The visitor will also find interesting and surprisingly large ranches, where the typical tasks of the region can be learnt, especially sheep shearing. |
