CENTRAL REGION

This region includes the whole of the province of CORDOBA.

The beauty of this wide territory is found in its picturesque mountain scenery and in its imposing valleys crossed by countless streams and dams, turning these lands into a captivating area, greatly appreciated by different kinds of tourists. The fertility of the southern fields in the Pampa region has encouraged the cattle and farm industry, which, together with the mining exploitation and its abundance of non-metallic minerals, turned this into one of the wealthiest regions in the country. Because of its natural wealth and its strategic location in the centre of the country, this area is a coveted tourist destination, supported by a good network of roads and a varied hotel industry, which includes health centers and spas devoted to revitalization, beauty and anti-stress treatments.

PROVINCE OF CORDOBA
Apart form being one of the main cattle and faro districts of the country, Cordoba has shown a remarkable sustained development in the car industry as well as in other manufacturing activities. Visitors will find a myriad of reasons to return again and again. Its attractions include sport fishing in its many rivers and lagoons, horse rides and four-wheel-drive excursions in the mountains, a rich historical past for those wanting to discover a past filled with remarkable events, trekking expeditions which include flora and fauna watching (especially condors, 1,500 mt above sea level). Its cuisine blends Pampa dishes (excellent cow meat) with mountain cooking (goat, figs, and dates). We should not forget its traditional alfajores (pastries), its stuffed sausages and its "uva chinche" wine from Colonia Caroya. To cap it all, the city also boasts the oldest University in the country, the second oldest in South America, attended by students coming from all over the country.
