PROVINCE OF MISIONES

This northern province of the Mesopotamia has a subtropical climate without a dry season. Its dense wild jungle vegetation, greatly contrasted with its reddish soil and the rivers around it, create a landscape of captivating beauty. Its economy is based on the exploitation of yerba mate, tea, bitter cassava and tung and of its many woods.

Many semiprecious stones, such as agate, amethyst and topaz, can be found here. This province gives particular attention to the preservation of jesuitic ruins - to such an extent that, considering their historical and cultural relevance, the UNESCO has declared them World Heritage, together with the magnificent Falls, considered by many as the most overwhelming falls in the world, with its 275 falls, exceeding 80 mt in the famous Garganta del Diablo or Devil's Throat.
