| PROVINCE OF LA RIOJA Lying over the majestic Cordillera de Los Andes or Andes Mountain Range and crossed over by the Sierras Pampeanas, La Rioja is a blend of arid prairies and mountainous areas. This land, full of history, is the cradle of national heroes and federal leaders who left their mark in Time. Its main tourist attraction is Talampaya Nacional Park, next to Ischigualasto (Valle de la Luna or Valley of the Moon) in the province of San Juan. This park combines 1,300 meters high peaks, white sand deserts, magnificent red sandstone canyons, ravines and rocky formations carved by Nature, all of which create a landscape of dramatic beauty.
As regards cuisine, the visitor will enjoy the product of an interesting blend of cultures, combining the colonial style which includes young goat, locros (spicy stew) and carbonadas (sweet meat stew), with Arabian dishes, including stuffed grape leaves and mashed chickpeas.
