This prairie, with its abundance of woods, forests and herbs, is famous for its main crop: cotton. The production of a number of different cereals and oleaginous products was subsequently added, including corn, wheat, soya, tobacco and vegetables. There is a rich wood and furniture industry, thanks to the profusion of woods in the area. Its tourist attractions are mostly related to historical buildings and events, such as the XVI century ruins. This place is ideal for the practice of adventure tourism and river fishing. Its cuisine is highly influenced by Paraguayan traditions, having the famous "chipa" as its most typical example. Most dishes are prepared with the different species of fish inhabiting its rivers.
