CENTRAL REGION

This is the most densely populated region in Chile . The Santiago-Valparaiso-Concepcion area is the most important urban center in the country. As such, this is the financial, cultural and political center. Valparaiso houses the National Congress.

This is also the area of tourist beaches, with popular, internationally famous seaside resorts such as Viña del Mar and its surroundings. Thanks to the area's fertile valleys where fruits, vegetables and cereals are grown, these lands are especially apt for the agricultural industry.

The iron and steel industry is mainly focused on the Huachipato power plant - 10 km west of Concepcion city.
