PUERTO NATALES
- Distance from Santiago: 2500 km.
This is one of the southernmost towns in Chile. Although its main tourist attraction is its closeness to the Torres del Paine National Park, famous among climbers as one of the most beautiful parks in the world, it has its own attractions that make this place worth visiting. The picturesque style of its constructions, the warmth of its inhabitants and the fresh shellfish that can be tasted in its restaurants turn this fishing town into a pleasant destination. From this port, many boat excursions can be made, sailing towards the Serrano and Balmaceda peaks, going through the Canal de las Montañas or Mountain Channel and some fjords, or visiting the many glaciers of the O'Higgins National Park and the Campo de Hielo Sur. Another attraction is the Cueva de Milodon or Milodon Cave, a few kilometers away, where prehistoric remains of this species of over 2,50 meters tall and 10,000 years of age were found.
